<abstract xml:lang="ru">

Background. Educational digitalization has reshaped not only instructional tools but also the cultural and social organization of students' interactions. Norms of communication, identity construction, and social participation increasingly unfold in online and hybrid contexts, intensifying the tension between technology-mediated communication and the need to preserve empathy, responsibility, and the human dimension of relationships. Purpose. To conceptualize digitalization as a cultural-historical environment transforming the structure of students' social competence and to outline a pedagogical strategy for its development across offline, online, and hybrid settings. Materials and methods. The study provides an integrative theoretical review of Russian and international researches published in 2018-2025 on digital socialization, technology-mediated pedagogical interaction, psychological well-being, and social skills. System analysis, thematic coding, and conceptual synthesis were applied within an "environment – mechanism – conditions" framework. Results. Digitalization is shown to be ambivalent: it generates developmental risks (identity fragmentation, reduced access to nonverbal cues, superficial communication, cyberaggression) while simultaneously opening new developmental zones (hybrid collaboration, expanded social roles, and new forms of joint activity). Effective social competence development requires coordinated pedagogical work with the environment of digital socialization, interaction mechanisms, and safety conditions, including digital ethics and resilience.
