Background. Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) opens new possibilities for developing students' foreign language oral proficiency and critical thinking. However, the integration of GenAI into educational settings demands that instructors reconsider their professional role and adopt innovative strategies for creating teaching materials. The user's primary interaction with GenAI occurs through prompts, which are currently viewed mainly as technical tools. Examining the prompt not merely from a technical but also from a methodological perspective is essential for advancing foreign language education. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to identify and demonstrate how methodological prompts function as a tool that fosters the integrated development of oral foreign language proficiency and critical thinking in future language teachers. Materials and Methods. The research employed theoretical analysis of scientific literature and regulatory documents, pedagogical design of AI-powered learning tasks, and comparative analysis. Results. The study identified and substantiated key requirements for an effective methodological prompt. Based on these requirements, a prompt template with variable parameters was developed. Using a generative AI model, learning tasks (case studies, role-plays, debates) were created and analyzed. The tasks demonstrated the potential for fostering integrated development of students' oral foreign language proficiency and critical thinking. The study showed that pedagogical prompts bridge the gap between what teachers intend to do and what GenAI is able to produce, thus expanding the teacher's professional toolkit.
